We drove into Germany from Rambouillet, France, through pouring rain to
the German border at Saaarbrucken, and we stayed in St Ingbert at an
old-fashioned German Inn. Then we enjoyed gentler sunny German countryside along
the back roads between Kaiserlautern and Bad Kreuznach, and a leisurely open-air
lunch in a tiny village square. We stayed at Bingen, and explored the town, the
castle with its spectacular view over the Rhine valley and its vineyards, and
the tow path beside the Rhine. The river was overflowing its banks in many
places, and flows incredibly forcefully. On 4th June we returned our Golf to
Frankfurt airport and flew to Stanstead, UK
