Victor's and Barbara's Travel Diaries

 Germany 1999

We drove into Germany from Rambouillet, France,  through pouring rain to the German border at Saaarbrucken, and we stayed in St Ingbert at an old-fashioned German Inn. Then we enjoyed gentler sunny German countryside along the back roads between Kaiserlautern and Bad Kreuznach, and a leisurely open-air lunch in a tiny village square. We stayed at Bingen, and explored the town, the castle with its spectacular view over the Rhine valley and its vineyards, and the tow path beside the Rhine. The river was overflowing its banks in many places, and flows incredibly forcefully. On 4th June we returned our Golf to Frankfurt airport and flew to Stanstead, UK
