Queensland, Australia 1999
In November 1999 Barbara and I were delighted to visit Karen
in Airlie Beach, North Queensland.. We drove the return trip of
about 7000kms over 3 weeks. Karen was living in a
country house overlooking the intensely green sugar cane fields. She has two puppy dogs and (at last count) three chooks.
Karen's principal school is in nearby Proserpine. We went to
South Molle Island Resort for a relaxing break, and we drove
north to Cairns, where we went out to the outer reef and
snorkelled over the wonderful corals and brightly coloured fishes.
We drove right up to the Daintree rain forest, and visited
Cape Tribulation. On the return we toured the Atherton tableland,
and saw coffee and tea plantations.
