England 2006
|
After our Somme tour, we crossed the channel on the Ferry with our Gomersall
group, and stayed at Faversham, Kent in a B&B. After a lovely meal at pretty
village pub with our enlarged Gomersall group, we travelled by train the next
day to Dover and picked up our rental car. We drove up to Shropshire, and based
ourselves in an exquisite cottage at Bottvyl Farm B&B, near Church Stretton.
From here, we visited Barbara's Mother's birtplace in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, we
toured North Wales with Auntie Stella and Wendy, and we visited Rosemary and
Fred in Lyth Hill. We also explored the beautiful country lanes and walking
tracks around our B&B, including a strenuous climb of Caer Caradoc, and a full
day walk to Cardington village, with its lovely church and ancient pub "The
Royal Oak". After leaving Shropshire, we drove north to Macclesfield
where we visited Victor's childhood home, then we headed up towards Scotland,
via Hadrian's Wall. |
